This course is a five credit hour introduction to biology for human biology majors. This class meets for three hours in a classroom; three hours in a lab, and one hour for a recitation/discussion session. The intention of the class is to provide a good background for subsequent science classes. Topics covered will include; basic chemistry of biological compounds, cell structure and function, metabolism, photosynthesis, the cell cycle, molecular biology, Mendelian and population genetics, and Darwin and evolutionary theory..
