WHEREAS, Bob Martz has spent almost his entire career in Toledo, starting at WSPD in 1958; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz was the youngest Station Manager in Booth Broadcasting, Inc. history at WTOD in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz started the first R & B station, WKLR - Kooler 99 in 1968; and Toledo's first country station, WKKO which remains the top overall rated station to
this day; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz holds the distinction of remaining on air in Toledo longer than any other radio personality, including his current show on Saturday mornings on WCWA from 9 til noon; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz has won numerous local, regional and national awards for his creative writing and comedy radio commercial productions for clients like General Motors, Texaco, The Miami Herald and others; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz is an Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame inductee the same year that NBC's Kelly O'Donnell and comedian Tim Conway were inducted; and
WHEREAS, Bob Martz is responsible for taking three Toledo radio stations from extremely poor rating to #1 positions over the span of his career, including WTOD, WOHO, and WCWA
Now therefore, Be it resolved that the Council of the City of Toledo recognizes Bob Martz for fifty years of dedication to Toledo broadcasting and asks all our citizens to join in extressing our deep appreciation for a lifetime of entertainment from this Toledo radio legend.
