Zoo Pets

      On my frequent trips to the Toledo Zoo, I often pick up a little something for Feodora. I have brought back a couple of hats, but most often I get her a stuffed "Zoo Pet". On my last safari, I picked up a Wolf.



      This set of pictures highlights the new Orange Multi Print Maxi Dress, although the main focus of the pictures is on the new Wolf and the other zoo pets.


Cute little fella!



      Here is the critter collection so far. The mallard (Fup Duck) was purchased online. He sits on my microwave oven cart next to Bob the Skull (not pictured).



      The White Tiger and Shunka (the fluffy dog) are sitting atop votive candle holders. I do this to get their legs to stretch out properly. Shunka is not really a zoo pet. He was purchased at a local department store. I have not named the zoo pets.



      The zoo pets usually hang out on top of my CD player. In this picture, the Cheetah is supported by a coffee mug. Next to him are the Meerkat, the Penguin, and the Flamingo.



      I have also purchased zoo pets to give to my friends when we get together to break bread and talk doll. They may find ways to include some of these in their shoots as well. Are they not just adorable?



      I used the new CLF light and umbrella sets to add fill light to the natural light that was coming in through the window. I bracketed exposures (underexposed and overexposed) during the shoot to get just the right amount of exposure for these pictures.

      Ordinarily the light source is on the same side of the umbrella as the subject (on the inside of the umbrella). My old umbrellas have silver fabric on the inside and white fabric on the outside. I have used the white side as reflectors for a lot of my inside shoots.

      The new umbrellas have white translucent fabric, which means that light spills out the back side of the fabric. For a few of the pictures, I had the umbrellas reversed to use them as soft boxes. (I turned the stands around so that the CFL lights were shining through the cloth.) I tried to use the old umbrellas with the new light stands, but the umbrella shaft diameter was too large for the holes in the new lamp/umbrella fixtures.

      Feodora Verochka Tychovich is a life-sized platinum-cured silicone rubber doll. She was produced by Oleg Bratkov (a gifted sculptor) and his beautiful wife Irina (an excellent makeup artist), at Anatomical Doll in Vladivostok, Russia. Feodora has Face 3 and Body 3 of their product line. She has a fully articulated skeleton and can pose in most natural ways that a human can pose. There are 'stops' on the skeleton that prevent her from posing in unnatural ways. This also helps to prevent damage to the silicone.
