Thanksgiving Day Shoot 2010
Since Feodora is relatively new to the United States, we are helping her to become accustomed to our holidays, customs, and traditions. She did notice that most of our traditions revolve around food!
I told her that a skinny American is about as rare as hen's teeth, but then I had to explain that statement to her!
Feodora loves to cook, and she wanted me to send some of her pictures back to Voronezh so that her Mom and Dad can see how well she is adjusting.
She started with the pies, because they would take the longest to cook. Although turkey is the traditional Thanksgiving Day main course, we decided to have ham today. The company that I retired from will be giving out turkeys to the retired people on December 6, and we will have another big meal later, possibly Christmas Day.
Here she is mixing the spices and eggs for the pumpkin pies.
The condensed milk and pumpkin mix go in next.
I suggested that she put that wash cloth under the can opener in to catch and drips or splashes.
With everything mixed in, it was time to fill the pie crusts.
I love candied yams! She mixed in cinnamon, ground clove, brown sugar, and butter, with some of the light syrup that comes out of the yams. Then poured it over the yams before putting them in the microwave. The pies were already baking in the big oven.
She saw that the timer for the pies was still running. I told her that I set it for a few minutes short in case we had to open the microwave.
I said that all she had to do after placing the yams in the oven was to close the door and push 'Start'.
Time to make the mashed potatos and stuffing!
The pies smelled great!
She topped off the candies yams with marshmallows, then put them back in the microwave to melt them down just a bit.
When we gave our thanks, I told her that she was one of the things for which I was most thankful. She was a bit embarrassed by that, but she appreciated the complement!
I set the timer on the camera to get our picture for her Mom and Dad.
She was so busy telling me about the customs in Voronezh that I thought her food might get cold!
Then she told me to quit fooling around with the camera, or my food would get cold!
Dixie and Esperanza know how crowded the kitchen get, especially with my camera and I getting under foot all the time! They decided to go visit some friends up in Detroit, and did not get back until we had stuffed ourselves! 
We started to watch the parade, which I had taped earlier. The big meal made me sleepy.
I woke up during the last part of the parade. We decided to watch While You Were Sleeping, one of our favorite holiday comedy / romance movies. (Word to the wise: have some tissues handy!)
We hope that your Thanksgiving celebration was as nice as ours! With my daughters both in Nebraska, and me in Ohio, it was nice to have Feodora, Dixie and Esperanza here to make my day truly thankful!
I started this set at about 10:00 am. We did not sit down to eat until 5:00 pm. It is my intention to market some of these pictures. Ordinarily I start my turkey at 9:00 am, and we gather at the table between 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm, depending on who else may be coming.
There were only 100 pictures in this set. Most of my time was spent moving and posing Feodora, which is why the other girls do not show up until it was time for coffee and pumpkin pie!

Feodora Verochka Tychovich is a life-sized platinum-cured silicone rubber doll. She was produced by Oleg Bratkov (a gifted sculptor) and his beautiful wife Irina (excellent makeup artist), at Anatomical Doll in Vladivostok, Russia. Feodora has Face 3 and Body 3 of their product line. She has a fully articulated skeleton and can pose in most natural ways that a human can pose. There are 'stops' on the skeleton that prevent her from posing in unnatural ways. This also helps to prevent damage to the silicone.
Her wig is from Forever Young. She is wearing the White Button-Down Top, the Comfort Waist White Pant, the Heart of the Crusade Pin, the Scroll Cuff Watch, and the Goldtone Marquise Ring, all from Avon. Her reading glasses and White Stag ballet flats are from Wal Mart. Her wig, necklace and earrings were given to her by Irina at Anatomical Doll.
