Wilted Dandelions

Mom & the kids would all take off for the railroad tracks and pick dandelions.  They’d separate the dandelions -  blooms in one bucket and stems and leaves in another bucket.  Ray would fry bacon.  Then in the bacon grease he would put in onions and the dandelions stems and leaves.  Cook until wilted.  Eat with fried potatoes.

With the dandelion blooms, he would make dandelion wine.

Coffee Soup

Make a cup of coffee.  Crumble saltine crackers into the coffee.  Eat with a spoon
