Peach Pie
Mix ½ cup flour, ½ cup brown sugar and 1 stick butter.
Put this mixture (saving part of it) into an unbaked pie shell. Then add 1
large can of sliced peaches. Then add the rest of the mixture on top of the
peaches. Bake 375 degrees for 30- 35 minutes.

Coffee Cookies
2 cups brown
sugar
2 eggs
(1 cup lard –
then use 3 cups flour)
(1 cup
shortening – then use 5 – 5 ½ cups flour)
1 cup lukewarm
strong coffee
3 teaspoons
baking powder
1 teaspoon
baking soda
1 teaspoon
vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
Drop by spoonful on a cookie sheet. Bake about 8-10
minutes at 350 degrees.
For peanut
butter cookies, use the same recipe only use ½ cup peanut butter and omit ¾
cup of flour.

Rock Crystal Candy
2 cups sugar
½ cup water
¾ cups Karo
syrup
Cook to 300 degrees or hard crack stage. Remove from
fire and stir in ½ teaspoon coloring and ½ teaspoon flavoring (oil
extract). Pour into buttered pan. Cut and put into powdered sugar.

Sweet Rolls
5 – 6 cups
flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon
salt
1 package
yeast
½ cup warm
water
1 cup scalded
milk
2/3 cups
shortening
2 eggs
2 cups mashed
potatoes
Sift flour, sugar and salt. Make a hole in the
center and pour in the yeast mixture.
[Yeast mixture- yeast dissolved in the warm water and
then added to the warm water and milk.]
Stir all
together, then add the melted shortening, eggs and mashed potatoes. Blend
and take out onto a lightly floured board. Knead well and put back into a
bowl, cover and let rise. Preheat oven. Roll out and sprinkle with sugar
and cinnamon. Roll up and cup into rolls. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 –
20 minutes.
