Biography

For the family of Albert J. Glynn and Florence M. DeLaet

ALBERT J GLYNN was born on Township , Shelby County, Ohio.   He was the son of Martin Glynn and Barbara Fessler.    This date is according to his birth record on file with the Shelby  County Probate Court.   His death record & funeral memorial card indicated a birth date of 29 Aug 1889 , dates which were supplied by a son at the time of death.  I believe we must go with the primary evidence and use the birth date as recorded at the time of birth.

FLORENCE MARGUERITE DELAET  was born on 05 January 1892 at Wynant P.O., Township , Shelby County, Ohio.  She was the daughter of Louis DeLaet Sr. and Albertine Maurer.   I’m not sure how they met.   The two families lived, at most,  4 miles away from each other, so perhaps Albert and Florence attended the same school or same church.

Family tradition says that they were married on 24 June 1914 .  I have not located a marriage record for them at the Shelby County Probate Court.   But this date does agree with the 1930 census which indicated that Florence was age 22 and Albert was age 24 when they were married.

The first record I have located for them after their marriage is the 1920 federal population census.  They were living on a farm at Loramie Township , Shelby County, Ohio, which he rented.  Listed with them was a daughter age 3 4/12, a son age 2 10/12, and another daughter age 1/12.  Both Albert and Florence indicated that they were able to read and write.

The next record I have of this family is the 1930 federal population census.  They were living on a farm at Loramie Township , Shelby County, Ohio, which he rented.  Listed with them were 5 daughters, 2 sons, Albert’s father Martin, and Albert’s brother Arthur.

Florence died on , Ohio .  She apparently had high blood pressure for 10 years and this finally led to a fatal cerebral hemorrhage.  She was buried in the St. Remy Cemetery in Russia , Ohio .

Albert died just 6 years later.  He died of stomach cancer, as had his father.    At the time of his death, he was still living on Rural Route , , Ohio .    He was buried in the St. Remy Cemetery, next to his wife.

I have just begun research on this family and at the present time, do not have any other documents on them.  There are 7 known children, all surname GLYNN (some information withheld to protect the privacy of those still living):
