Biography

For the family of Louis C. Delaet and Albertine M. Maurer

 

 

LOUIS C DELAET was born on , Cynthian Township, Shelby County, Ohio.  He was the son of  Joseph DeLaet and Mary Jane Verain.   His birthdate was taken from his death certificate, info for which was given by his wife Albertine.   He may have been called familiarily as “Louie” as I have found this name listed on a census record, as well as his daughter Albertine’s birth record.

 ALBERTINE M. MAURER was born on 07 Feb 1868 in Ohio .  I have not located a place of birth yet.  She was the daughter of Frances A. Maurer and Julia Montre.  They were married in 1887, according to the number of years married as listed on the 1910 federal population census.  I have not located a copy of the marriage record yet.

             The first record I have located for them after their marriage is the 1900 federal population census.  They are living in Cynthian Township, Shelby County Ohio.  Living in their household are Louis and Albertine, along with their children Louis Jr, Anna, Florence, Raymond, and Francis.  Also living with them is Albertine’s mother, Julia Maurer.  Louis’ occupation is listed as a farmer and renting a farm.  Albertine is listed as the mother of 8 children, 5 still living.

             They are listed in the 1910 population census schedule living again in Cynthian Township, Shelby County, Ohio.  Living in their household are Louis and Albertine, and their children Louis, Anna, Florence , Raymond, and Mary.  Albertine’s mother Julia Maurer is still living with them.   He is listed as as a farmer and renting a farm.

             On the 1920 census schedule, they are living still in Cynthian Township , Shelby County, Ohio.  In the household now are Louis and Albertine along with 2 of their children, Louis Jr and Mary Louise.  They are still living on a farm which they rent.

             On the 1930 census schedule, they are living in Cynthian Township , Shelby County, Ohio.  In the household are Louis and Albertine along with their daughter Louisa.  They own their farm now, which is worth $1500.  All of them were able to read and write.

             On 09 October 1938 , Louis died at his home in Newport, Cynthian Township, Shelby County, Ohio.  Cause of death was listed as gastric hemmorrhage due to malignant condition of the stomach and spleen.  He had been dealing with that condition for a little more than a year. 

            She probably lived by herself for a while.  Then most likely moved in with one of their children.  Her address in 1957 was listed as RR1, Fort Loramie , Ohio.

             Then almost 20 years later, Albertine died on 07 September 1957 .  She died at a hospital in Dayton Ohio and the cause of death was listed as senility with senile dementia which had lasted 3years.  This senility’s cause was listed as cardio vascular disease which had lasted 4 years.

             I have just begun research on this family and at the present time, do not have any other documents on them.  There are 9 known children, all presumably born in Cynthian Township , Shelby County, Ohio,  all surnamed DELAET:
