Once again, I'm playing with color and texture. I choose a theme, find a group of yarns that fit it, and start stitching away. My three early pieces are in tent/half cross-stitch, but lately I've been getting bolder in my stitching.
Since I wander all over the canvas, the backs are pretty wild -- sometimes I like them better than the fronts! I use cheapo plastic canvas because it's sturdy, it doesn't warp, and it has finished edges.
Although I use a painterly approach in these pieces, I still want them to lock like needlepoint, so I stitch a tent-stitch border on each one.
