Prismatophyllum
The state stone of Michigan is the Petosky. Named after the town in
northwestern lower peninsula of the state, this coral is very common
among the other devonian limestone fossils along the shore of Lake
Michigan. This finely preserved specimen comes from the Medusa quarry
at Alpena.
I bought this one at a garage sale. It was in a large box of other
very nice Alpena fossils for $5! This is my favorite of the bunch.
