Jerry tackled I.D. Models 1/32 scale A26C, and converted it to an A26A/K from the 609th ACW in Nakom
Phenom Thailand during 1969. Just to be clear this is a Vacuform kit, with all details needing
to be either scratch built or sourced from other kits.
The engines are QuickBoost P-47 radials with modified P-51-K props, and the cowls were converted from
two Tamiya Corsair cowls with scratch built flaps and intakes. The landing gear are modified cast
metal B-25 pieces that feature P-61 wheels and tires with corrected tread patterns.
The cockpit was 100% scratch built, with the exception of the use of two P-51D seats. The rear
gunner's position was also built up using lots of Evergreen plastic. Underneath, the bombay was
scratch constructed featuring resin "funny" bombs and 100lb cluster bombs - 36 in all, each with 7
pieces! Finally, the hanging ordnance employed resin and scratch made pieces, and the tip tanks
were adapted from 1/48 F-101 drop tanks.
