Day 2: Saturday

Rainbows are everywhere in Cornwall, this one was right outside our cottage.
Rainbows are everywhere in Cornwall, this one was right outside our cottage.

We arrived at Carvynick Cottages. Neither of us were surprised that it's raining out. This dampened the beauty of the countryside around us, but did not diminsh our spirits.

The battle was on to keep ourselves awake lest our sleep cycles be screwed up for most of the week. We hung out in the living room of our cottage, trying to stay awake. We discovered the TV had only 5 channels, which was a far cry from the 50 or so we have at home.

We managed to stay awake by walking around the countryside for a few hours. We discovered two things:

  1. Summercourt is a very small village.
  2. Dirt roads and rain do not mix.

Eventually, we found the corner store (referred to by RCI as a "grocery store" which it definitely is NOT!). Unfortunately, it was closed. Fortunately for us, the on-site restaurant opened at 6:30 for dinner. We snacked on foods we'd saved from the plane and the airport for lunch. Good thing we'd already had two breakfasts!
