Alan's Favorite

Current TV Shows

I do not advocate being a couch potato. However, I do really enjoy certain television shows. I also happen to be enamored by the women in these shows. These are the shows that I try to watch each week, listed in order of my current favorites.

Scully

What more can you want in a show than goverment conspiracy, alien coverups, and Gillian Anderson.  The X-Files has intriguing story lines, intense plots, and one of the more elegant and beautiful women to ever appear on television. The writing and directing are what make the show great, but Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are both excellent actors. I'm not a believer in aliens, but the show makes me wish that I did just so that I could be in on uncovering the conspiracy.   They REALLY need to give Gillian some new dialogue, though.  She tends to say the same 4 sentences every week.

Friends

Friends is a fun show. I've seen every episode. Sadly, I've adopted most of my mannerisms from Chandler, and my main source of humor is to incorporate a Friends soundbite into daily conversation ("How do you not fall down more?").  And, of course, the women.

The Simpsons is brilliant satire. I hated the show for a very long time, thinking that it advocated Bart's behavior and was therefore a bad influence for kids. Bart IS a bad influence for kids, and Homer IS a terrible parent. The Simpsons is an adult show, cleverly showing us what a strange, selfish species we are. I laugh for 30 minutes every episode, even the reruns.
The show about nothing is still a great show, even in reruns. I saw Jerry Seinfeld's standup during a special Atlanta Olympics event at the Fox Theatre. He was even better (and cleaner) live than on the show.

The Practice

The Practice is incredible. Excellent drama. Amazing story lines. Lawyers who deal with the humanity and depravity of their jobs.   Steve Harris (EugeneYoung) and Kelli Williams (Lindsay Dole) deserve an Emmy.   Cool show.

South Park is extremely disrespectful and raunchy.  Sorry, but I laugh and laugh each week.  The Simpsons is brilliant, South Park is just crude.  But very funny.  I knew I would like it when I read that a regular character (Kenny) would be killed each week (but would be back again each week with no explanation).  Now as Cartman says, "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

I have lots more pictures of the women listed above. I got them all off of the internet, but if you want pictures of Teri Hatcher, Gillian Anderson, Helen Hunt, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, or Amy Grant, you can email me at:
