God's Will - Part 2
Greetings,Our lives can "prove" the will of God only as we do those things that are
good and acceptable to Him.
And do you Know what is Good and Acceptable and Pleasing to Him? For you To Know Him and
His Will. Why? Because You are Valuable in His sight. He loves you. True your sin has
separated you from Him and the fact He judges your sin on the Cross by bearing your guilt,
shame and the penalty for sin proves His antagonism out of a Holy, Pure Love towards sin.
IT IS AN OFFENSE to Him. But also the Fact he went to that Cross reveals the depth of His
commitment to Redeem you.
REDEEM-The Word "redeem" means to Buy back. In Biblical times
the word was uses to speak of buying or trading in the market place. The thought is of the
Lord Jesus entering this sin filled world and buying us out of slavery to sin. The Price
He paid was with His OWN Blood-His very life. Indeed the Bible says we are all slaves to
sin.
THE LORD JESUS CHOSE to Redeem us from Sin. He steeped into the market
place of those in Bondage and He paid the Price to buy us out from a life shackled and
mastered by sin and to Liberate us from sin and bring us into a Right relationship with
Him. To begin all over and indeed to Live lives without a Past. Listen to what the Bible
says in Colossians 2:13-14 "When you were dead in your sins... God made you alive
with Christ. He Forgave ALL Our Sins, having canceled the written code, with it's
regulations that was against us; He took it away, Nailing it to the cross."
"BRING US TOGETHER AGAIN."
Years ago in Deshler, Ohio, back in the 60's there was a Presidential Candidate passing
through by train that day, who was to stop for a brief period to address the people
gathered. As the People waited for the train to come, a young girl picked up a sign that
was lying on the platform and held it high for all to see as the train puled into the
station. The following day her picture, holding high the sign appeared in newspapers all
across the country. The sign had four words on it that caught the attention of the
photographers and newspapermen. It read "BRING US TOGETHER AGAIN."
Indeed what man, religion, good works, cannot do. GOD DID [Romans 8:2] through the Lord
Jesus Christ. For Only He can "Bring Us Together Again," in a right relationship
with God!...
A. - Acts 4:12 says "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other
name under Heaven that has been Given Among men, by which we MUST be saved."
B. - 1 Timothy 2:9-10 "For there is ONE God and ONE MEDIATOR BETWEEN God and men, the
man CHRIST JESUS who Gave Himself a RANSOM for all..."He is God's Only Way for man to
be brought back into A Right Relationship with Himself.
YOUR PROBLEM
You see people's problem is what the Bible calls sin.
LOOK with me at some of the things God says about the characteristics of
Sin in the Bible
SIN
WHAT IS SIN?
A. Sin is Disobedience to God -Genesis 3:1-6
B. Sin is an Insult to God- Matthew 12:31 -Connected with "Blasphemia"- The
basic meaning is" insult"... Sin is an "insult to God."
C. Sin is Rebellion against God - Genesis 3:1,6
D. Sin is Destructive - Genesis
E. Sin Imprisons - Romans 7:23
F. Sin enslaves - Romans 6:14
G. Sin is Deceitful - Hebrews 3:13 - Sin is deceitful it is always a lie. It does not
bring happiness but leaves a person in the dreaded fear they will be exposed and found
out.
H. Sin Kills - Ezekiel - 18:20 -
I. Sin will be exposed by God
A. - "Be sure your sin will find you out"- Numbers 32:23
B. - " God will judge the secrets of men through Jesus Christ." - Romans 2:16
J. Sin is Lawlessness - 1 John 3:4
K. Sin is Evil - Genesis 39:9
L. Sin is a Master over people -Romans 6:14.
THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN;
A. - Sin Hardens the heart of a person toward God, His Word and his or fellow
man. - Hebrews 3:13
B. - Sin Results in death - Romans 6:23
C. - Eternal Separation from God - in Hell- Revelation 20:15
1. - Sin is Universal -
A. -" For ALL have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." - Romans 3:23
Sin is the Universal State of people. You live in a community of sinners, in a city or
town full of sinners, in a state of sinners, in a nation of sinners, in a continent of
sinners, indeed in a Universe of sinners. Wherever you go you cannot get away from the
fact that God declares "ALL have sinned,"..."All" are sinners indeed
all are slaves to sin and various sins!
B. -"There is NONE Righteous, not even one..."-Romans 3:10
It is easy to compare ourselves with others and say proudly yet self deceptively "I
am not as bad as that person, or "I am better than them." Indeed you may be but
God's Standard is perfection. Perfect rightness all the time. We have to hold our hands up
and say "No, I too am a sinner, I too have fallen short of God's Standard of
perfection. I too am in the multitude of Universal sinners."
2. - Sin Indwells us. -
A. -Psalm 51:5
Sin is not merely something we do...which are acts of sin. But sin is what WE ARE. We are
sinners. Those who have failed to honor God.
"Hamartia" is a Greek word that speaks of "sin." It was used in
classical Greek and meant, "to miss the mark." It was used of a spear that when
thrown at a target misses it. It can be used for missing a road. Have you ever gone
driving and missed your turn. You missed the mark! It does not describe a definite ACT OF
SIN AS MUCH AS IT DESCRIBES THE State OF SIN...FROM WHICH ACTS OF SIN COME FROM.
Sin is a Person's Problem. The Solution is the Lord Jesus Christ. And God's will for you
is to understand the Problem in your life. It is YOU! It is not your in-laws, outlaws,
circumstances, spouse, siblings, parents, child, your upbringing, environment ... the
Ultimate problem is Sin that is in you and controls you. The desire to be your own
"boss" and to Live Independently of God and What He says is Right and Best for
you. So you Rebel against Authority, any one or anything that cuts across what you want to
do. Every one else becomes someone for your benefit...to use them, to get off them
something for your self. Your whole world is occupied and preoccupied with "looking
out for number one!", namely Yourself.
THE "ME" MONSTER.
In our house with our little children we affectionately know it as "The, ME
Monster." Have you ever seen two little children in a room with one toy between them?
They often will fight over it...you don't have to teach them to be selfish, they already
are. You don't have to teach a child to lie...they do... Why? Because sin which is
manifested in Selfishness is the BENT of their Being! They are Mastered by sin and it is
evident in a child from an early age, often through throwing tantrums, stomping of feet,
screaming, all the way up to adulthood self centered living, self centered occupation,
everything revolves around self...is the bent of a life without Christ from the cradle to
the grave.
And so we have wars, we have homes torn apart, marriages destroyed, children abused and
neglected while parents fight and bicker and sacrifice the child's welfare to their
"god " of materialism. All around us and in us is that desire to control others
and we fight when we do not get our own way. We slander people, we gossip, we kill, others
with our thought life and in our hearts, sinful anger, and Pride rule.
Circumstances control us, confound and agitate us. And often the older people become, the
more bitter they become in some cases... Sin destroys, tarnishes, enslaves, and in the end
kills. For the Bible says "the soul that sins shall die!"
And so we have graveyards filled with beautiful flowers...so pretty...but it does not hide
the fact underneath the flowers or tombstone...is a person who has died and entered into
Eternity Heaven or Hell there final destination.
GOD'S WILL, His Desire for you is "Not to perish" in your sin
and spend Eternity in a devils Hell where there are Gnashing of teeth and where there is
unspeakable agony and torment for those who Have Rejected to SUBMIT TO His desire for
them... But His desire is "but all come to repentance."- 2 Peter 3:9
The Problem is Sin
The Savior is the ANSWER;
Jesus Christ is the Cure for Sin. Why did He come to earth? To Honor His Father...and for
YOU. He loves YOU!
Jesus Christ Came to the Cross for you. Why did He come to this earth and leave His Glory
where He was worshipped and adored in Heaven?
1. Jesus came to Reveal The Father to us - John 1:18, John 14:9
2. Jesus came to Destroy the works of satan- 1 John 3:8
3. Jesus came to DELIVER us from the Wrath of God- Romans 5:9
4. Jesus came to Bring us to God. - 1 Peter 3:18
5. Jesus came to SAVE us from our sins- Matthew 1:21
6 Jesus came to CLEANSE us from all Sin- I John 1:7-9
JESUS CAME TO SAVE US FROM OUR SIN- That's Good News!!
We can be delivered and rescued and forgiven from the Power of sin to rule us, the Penalty
of sin against us, The Guilt of sin that hounds us, The Pollution of sin that defiles us
and those we come in contact with.
We can be free to Love God and Others, to be Forgiven and to forgive, we can be as the
Bible say "New Creatures in Christ"- With A Brand New Supernatural Start because
Jesus Came to SAVE US FROM OUR SINS." That's WONDERFUL NEWS!
A DROWNING BOY;
A FRIEND OF MINE, grew up in Louisiana in The USA. When he was little he and some
friends would go swimming in a lake. They would often take a coin and throw it into the
lake and then dive in after it and search for it and retrieve it off the bottom of the
lake and come to the surface with the coin in hand - Triumphantly!
One day my friend dived in, and searched on the bottom of the lake for the coin, all the
time holding his breath. Eventually he did not have enough air and as he swam to the top,
he burst the water gasping for air! And without
the energy and strength to swim to the shore of safety. He realized he was DROWNING. He
started to Shout "Help, Help, Help."
Someone on the shore seeing his distress dived in to SAVE him, to Deliver him from
drowning, to Rescue him. What he was Incapable of doing Himself He had to acknowledge so
and Cry out for someone who had the ability to save him. So to we are ALL drowning in sin.
We cannot Deliver ourselves from its Grip on our lives. We are Prisoners and captives.
But There is One who Came to Save us from our Sin and His Name is JESUS CHRIST. On the
Cross He paid the Penalty of sin, to break the Power of sin over you and to rescue you
from the BONDAGE of sin. He is The WAY out of your Sin problem. Are you Willing to ALLOW
Him to Rescue you? It is God's will for you. For the Bile says "Today is the Day of
Salvation".
Today is your day to Know God's Will for you and to Choose to Submit to God's Will for
you- which is To be "Saved from sin and Saved To A right relationship with God who
made you and sent His Son to die for you on the Cross of Calvary."
THE PROBLEM IS SIN
THE SOLUTION TO THE SIN PROBLEM, is Not religion, Environment, Education,
Politics, Social Reform, good works, Penance, New Years resolutions, A new Job, A new
Spouse, a New home, a new city, a new church, a new body, but A PERSON And His Name is
JESUS CHRIST!
EXAMPLES OF OLD
In the Book of Acts 2:37-38 Some men asked Peter "what must we do?"
upon hearing of God's Will for them. He said, "REPENT... For the Forgiveness of sins
and the Gift of the Holy Spirit."
Repentance means to Change your Mind which produces a change of Direction. It is as though
you were driving down the road ... and see a Sign that Shows you are going the wrong way.
You Know the Truth, now you must Change your mind about the direction you are going and
act upon the truth you have been given and TURN THE CAR AROUND. Repentance is to have a
Change of Mind about God, yourself and your sin, and God's Son. Repentance is a Gift of
God as a result of His Kindness, Romans 2:4 tells us. Failure is not Final. No sin too
great, horrific, or so small that He cannot and will not forgive you for. He allows
U-TURNS and empowers you to Do So!
YOU WERE CREATED FOR A PURPOSE;
The Bible says God Created you
A. - For Himself- Colossians 1:16 and
B. - For His Glory- Isaiah 43:7
The Bible says Your sin separates you from a Right relationship with God.
The Bible say Jesus Christ Came and died on a cross to pay for your sin.
He stepped into your place to take your punishment and pay your penalty for your Sin
against God. And God raised Him from the Dead three days Later because He ACCEPTED the
PERFECT SACRIFICE of JESUS CHRIST on your BEHALF. And Now you can enter into a PERSONAL
RELATIONSHIP with God as your Father through the FINISHED and COMPLETE, Work of the Lord
Jesus Christ on your behalf at Calvary. Nothing else needs to be added to His Work...Jesus
Christ is Sufficient Himself to do what He says He will and can do!!!
Jesus says "I Am THE Way, The TRUTH and THE Life, no one comes to the Father except
through Me."- John 14:6.
A HEART OF LOVE - RETURNING HOME;
MANY YEARS AGO, a 16 year old left home to be out from under her mother's
Authority...on her 21st Birthday, having sampled "freedom", realized it was not
all it was cracked up to be and so she returned home to the Mom who loved her. Her family
lived out in the country and as she walked down the country lane at two in the
Morning...in the distance she saw a Light on in The bedroom window in the two story
home...as she ran and got closer to the house she discovered the Front door was unlocked
and wide open.
She pushed through the door and at the bottom of the stairs she looked up to see her Mom
standing there. "Why is the Light on? Why is the door pen at two in the morning? she
asked, out of breath and worried. Her Mom replied "Honey, ever since the day you
left, I have lighted a candle in the upstairs room at night. So if you returned in the
dark of night you could see the candle Light and would know the Way home. And Honey the
door has been left unlocked so if you came you would know my heart like the door is Wide
open to you. "Honey welcome Home."
And today dear friend, THE HEART OF GOD is wide open to you. Jesus Christ is the Light of
the WORLD AND EVERY TIME you see a steeple pointing towards the sky, a message about the
Lord Jesus shared by a friend or foe...it is God's way of calling you to Come Home to the
One who made you and Loves you. His Heart is wide open to you dear friend and His Will for
you TODAY is to come to Him through personally trusting His Son to Save you and Change you
and He will and He has the Power to do so!!
A LIFE WITHOUT A PAST HISTORY.
A story is told of an Australian Doctor who was a follower of the Lord JESUS and
had been sharing about Him in the Bush of Australia. He had been sharing with a man about
how Jesus Christ Can forgive and give a person a Brand new start but the man was
unresponsive, it seemed too fantastic. The man's wife was in labor and so the Dr. was
called for. Upon the delivery, the Dr. held the newborn babe and proclaimed "This
Baby has no past History." The man realized that when we submit to the Lord we are
"Born-again." There is No Past RECORD IN HEAVEN OF US EVER HAVING SINNED. You
too can have a LIFE WITHOUT A PAST HISTORY. You too can be right with God and be Brand
New...to begin again...!
Indeed the Bible says
A.- "As far as the East is from the West so Far He has removed our transgressions
from us." - Psalm 103:12
B.- "And their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more." - Hebrews 10:17
C.- "If we confess our Sins He is faithful and Just to forgive and Cleanse us form
ALL our Iniquities."- 1 John 1:7-9
D. - "If ANY man is in Christ he is A NEW CREATION, old things have passed away. - 2
Corinthians 5:17
E. - " Do not ponder things of the Past ...I, even I Am the One who wipes out your
transgression for My own Sake." - Isaiah 43:18, 25
Just as a Brand new babe who comes into this world has no record of a past history, so
neither has one who comes to the Lord Jesus Christ. They have a brand new Beginning with
God, Their Sin has been Wiped away, like wiping chalk of a Black Board with a damp cloth.
Not a trace to be seen.
Never will God hold you accountable for that sin, as His Son on His Cross, wiped away your
sin with His Own Blood, paying the Penalty for you! Indeed, you can be a person without a
Past, before God, accepted, forgiven, loved and empowered to live for Him! To start AGAIN,
to start right, a New Beginning with God in your Life!!
PERSONAL APPLICATION TO YOUR LIFE;
And today The WILL Of God for you is to Come as you are To God the Father through
Jesus Christ. How?
By simple faith turn yourself and your sin over to Him!
Submit to Jesus Christ as your New Master to Rule over you and as your Personal Savior to
Save you from the penalty, power, guilt and shame and offense of sin.
IF THIS IS THE DESIRE OF YOUR HEART, to submit your will to His will, it
is not only right but it is because it is His desire also for you. Perhaps you could use
these words to Say to God you want to submit to His will and be SAVED.
A SUGGESTED PRAYER TO GOD;
"Dear God, I admit I am a sinner. I am controlled by my selfishness. I have
sinned against you in my Thoughts, with my words and actions and with my Life.
I ask You to forgive me for my sin against You. I ask you to deliver me form the power,
and penalty of my sin and Cleanse me from the guilt of my sin through the Blood of the
Lord Jesus Christ.
I do now submit myself and my sin to You. I submit my life to You to be my Master and
Savior. From this point on I commit my life to You to live for Your sake and to be Changed
by You.
Thank you Father, for sending Jesus to Die for my sin and Forgiving me, and accepting me
now. Make me the kind of person You want me to be, in Jesus Name.
