"Network" I press a button My computer springs to life I type some gibberish My screen does a dance A virtual button pressed Connects me to the world Of electronics Spanning the globe I glance, I search I find myself staring At an unchanging screen I look around I see who is there I find many people But when I ask None reply My heart drops suddenly A loss felt Cutting deep into my heart I prod again No response I leave cries for help And receive silence in return Did I miss something? Is there something I do wrong? Perhaps I speak the wrong language Perhaps I wear the wrong mask For that it is which separates us The masks that they wear The mask that I wear Our protective devices Shielding us from that Which could bring us pain In turn Isolating us From each other
