What you see here was on Canada day in St-John's in 1997. Major events were organized all around the island that year to celebrate 500 years since John Cabot sailed from Bristol England and found Newfoundland. The ship you see here is a perfect replica of the original sailboat. They actually crossed the Atlantic with this small canoe to recreate the real voyage. I say perfect...this one had hidden modern navigational instruments and a motor hidden in it so we were told. ;)
