The Master's Daughter timeline
There have been some questions about the time and sequence of events in the series, so I've created this page to hopefully make things a little clearer.
Hamilton's own timeline gets a bit foggy in places, but I found a fan-created one online that works well, figuring that from the time of Guilty Pleasures' publication, puts Danse Macabre taking place in November of '96.
Bobby was born August of '95.
Nate (Tammy and Larry's kid) was born in March of '97.
Mara was born November 21 of 1997. (Premature- she was born after only about six months of pregnancy.)
Here's how it breaks down:
Mara and Caden have their first kiss at her sixteenth birthday party, that much you know.
She started dating Bobby a few weeks later. That only lasts a couple weeks, then she switched to fastrack and left school about a month and a half after her birthday.
She was about six and a half months past sixteen on the night of the ardeur, and she and Caden made up a few weeks later, a little over four months before she turns seventeen.
Her seventeeth birthday was mentioned in a bit of throwaway dialogue in "Flashpoints":
Caden: "Good. Incidentally, happy birthday," he said, and I lifted my head to frown at him, then at the clock.
Mara: "Is it? Gods, it is. Finally."
Mara was born November 21 of 1997, so her seventeenth birthday was Nov of 2014.
The hybrid convention in "Prejudices and Preconceptions" took place the August after that. "Ascension", of course, starts immediately after. Several weeks pass before Sampson arrives in mid/late September, so by Chapter 26 is late October 2015.
