'Twas in the watch-es of the night
I thought up-on Thy power,
I kept Thy love-ly face in sight
A-midst the dark-est hour.
My flesh lay rest-ing on my bed,
My soul a-rose on high;
My God, my life, my hope, I said,
Bring Thy sal-va-tion nigh.
My spir-it lab-ours up Thine hill,
And climbs the heaven-ly road;
But Thy right hand up-holds me still,
While I pur-sue my God.
Thy mer-cy stretch-es o'er my head
The shad-ow of Thy wings;
My heart re-joi-ces in Thine aid,
My tongue a-wakes and sings.
