O Splen-dor of God's glo-ry bright,
From light e-ter-nal bring-ing light,
O Light of light, light's liv-ing Spring,
True Day, all days il-lu-min-ing;
Come, ver-y Son of heav-en's love,
In last-ing ra-diance from a-bove,
And pour the Ho-ly Spi-rit's ray
On all we think or do to-day.
And now to you our prayers as-cend,
O Fa-ther, glo-rious with-out end;
We plead with Sov-ereign Grace for power
To con-quer in temp-ta-tion's hour.
Con-firm our will to do the right,
And keep our hearts from en-vy's blight;
Let faith her ea-ger fires re-new,
And hate the false, and love the true.
O joy-ful be the pass-ing day
With thoughts as pure as morn-ing's ray,
With faith like noon-tide shin-ing bright,
Our souls un-shad-owed by the night.
Dawn's glo-ry gilds the earth and skies,
Let Him, our per-fect Morn, a-rise,
The Word in God the Fa-ther one,
The Fa-ther im-aged in the Son.
