Great is the Lord our God
And let us sing His worth;
He makes His peo-ple His a-bode
And His de-light on earth.
In Zi-on God is known
A re-fuge in dis-tress;
How bright has His sal-va-tion shone
Through all her pal-a-ces!
When kings a-gainst her joined,
And saw the Lord was there,
In wild con-fu-sion of the mind
They fled with has-ty fear.
Oft have our fa-thers told,
Our eyes have oft-en seen,
How well our God se-cures the fold
Where His own sheep have been.
In ev-ery new dis-tress
We'll to His house re-pair,
We'll think up-on His won-drous grace,
And seek de-liv-erance there
Far as Thy name is known
The world de-clares Thy praise;
Thy saints, O Lord, be-fore Thy throne
Their songs of hon-our raise.
With joy let Ju-dah stand
On Zi-on's cho-sen hill,
Pro-claim the won-ders of Thy hand,
And coun-sels of Thy will.
The God we wor-ship now
Will guide us till we die,
Will be our God while here be-low,
And ours a-bove the sky.
