The Existence and Attributes of God

This is a large work by a Puritan author, and is considered to be a classic on the subject. The thesis of the book may be found in Charnock's discussion of "Practical Atheism" where he makes the profound (yet self-evident) observation: "He that denies any essential attribute, may be said to deny the being of God." Obviously, if you deny one of the defining or essential attributes of God, then the "god" you are left with is far different from the true God, falls far short of the glory of the one true God, and is no different from an idol—a substitute for the true and living God. Hence, to deny an essential attribute of God is to deny His very existence, which is Atheism.

Important Note: The Sovereignty of God is available in two editions: The unabridged version is published by Baker Book House. This is the version I recommend you get. The other edition, published by Banner of Truth, omits Pink's excellent chapter on "Reprobation". This is a rare situation where "Banner of Truth" does not live up to its name!

This is another "must read."— Pink's classic considers the subject of God's sovereignty from many angles... creation, administration, salvation, reprobation, human will, human responsibility, prayer, etc.He also provides helpful appendices, addressing some of the questions that commonly arise with regard to God's sovereignty.
