Here's a quick rundown on making bmp images of your quest maps

First you need fatcatfan's "mapmaker 192b183" program and then you need to set up folders for it, and to give you a place to work with the files.
The example below shows how I've set mine up.

The qsu files you see are the unencoded quest files you export from your quest for use with the mapmaker.
The mapmaker 192b183 is all you need to generate bmp images from your qsu.
The mapmaker183 program is below.
mapmaker 192b183 (18 kb)

As you can see qsu files are very large in size, and you will want to make maps as you continue on with your dungeon or overworld, so what I do is export the qsu to my Zelda Classic folder and then "Cut" and move it to the mapmaker folder, over-writting earlier versions, at 17 megs a pop, this saves a lot of disc space.

The "map" folder I use to tranfer maps to in order to keep them out of my way and to keep the folder cleaner, it's just an option, and I had built half a dozen quests and ran maps on them before I ever added the map folder.

You should be all set up and ready to generate some maps now, we'll be working with "Basic2nd" my second quest remake.

How to export your qsu file

* Open ZQuest and your quest, click on FILE then EXPORT
Then click on "unencoded quest" as seen in the gif below.

* Name your qsu file, click ok and close ZQuest.
The qsu is now in your zelda folder, click on it, choose "cut" and move it to your mapmaker folder.

* Now that you have generated and moved the qsu into the mapmaker folder
you are ready to make your first bmp map image, double click on mm192b183.exe to open the mapmaker.

* Click on open and choose the Basic2nd.qsu (replace with your qsu name)

* Now it's time to choose which map, to enter in the layers, if you want items to show, color, and to name the map.
Note; in this first example we are doing the Basic2nd overworld and I highlighted the name to show you where to name your maps but I'll leave it as is for this map

* Hit generate! and the map is now in your folder
Click ok

* Now we'll do a dungeon map
choose the level number in the dropdown, 5 in this instance, set your layers, items and colors, and RENAME your map so you won't write over your overworld map

* Hit generate, click ok, click exit, and your maps will be in the folder waiting for you :O)
