1985 Tamiya Fox Highly Modified with Tons of Extra's!

This 1985 Tamiya Fox is definitely one of the most uniquely modified you'll find, without getting away from it's original look and parts availability. She is complete and a very strong performer!

I have been building this baby since 1985, although it sat unused for two decades before the bulk of the modifications were completed. In the last 3 years I have added many commercially available aftermarket parts, gathered a huge stock of extra parts, and custom engineered and built my own modifications. There is no Fox exactly like it in the world, and yet there is nothing "custom" I have done that can't be duplicated relatively easily with readily available parts and materials. She can also be restored to her stock form if desired.

I have only run this buggy around the yard and street, it's never been on a track. Even with her minor wear and tear and a few body shell dings and crack repairs, she is really sweet. With a little TLC and a few new parts (front skid plate, front bumper, and new body) she would be an awesome shelf queen if that's your desire.

She is lightning fast and extremely stable. Due to the extra juice coming from the stout 8.4 volt battery packs, the motor does require servicing after about 10 runs to maintain top performance...and it's totally worth the effort!

After 23 years of occasional fun, I am ready to let this amazing Fox and ALL her accessories go to a good home rather than go back in the closet for another 20 years. It would be great to see her go to a REAL Fox ENTHUSIAST. I've had my fun with her and other interests are now taking priority.

This is likely one of the nicest and most complete Fox setups you'll find. She has always been overly serviced and treated with respect, never sustaining any serious damage or subjected to extreme stunts. I haven't run her now in over a year. A quick tune up and battery charge is all she'll need to be a wicked performer again (NOTE: standing wheelies usually require shag carpet or hot sticky rough asphalt starts using a freshly serviced motor and fresh battery pack).

Upgrades are as follows:

Technigold Motor with heat sink

Adjustable aluminum shocks front and rear

Aftermarket aluminum rear damper stay

Front anti-sway bar

Custom engineered rear axle anti-sway plate (basically converts to solid axle performance and stability)

Thorpe rear axle conversion which uses standard dogbones (with custom axle covers to prevent dirt buildup through use of the original rubber boots, and retain the "stock" appearance)

RAM adjustable electronic servo Fail-Safe unit (prevents runaway when out of radio range)

Aftermarket HPI deep dish rear rims with extra-wide monster tires

Aftermarket front rims with metal bearings and oversized tires

Custom battery compartment spacers (to accomodate larger packs)

Battery Eliminator

Custom engineered aluminum wing insert and spacers (strengthens body wing)

Custom engineered front headlights and rear taillight system with separate battery pack (created using standard lamps and parts from radio Shack, includes custom tool for turning lights on and off through rear window without removing the body shell).

Heavy duty battery connector and custom screw terminals incorporated on Fox chassis for easy replacement without opening the shell

Custom engineered white plastic secondary undercarriage skid plate

Custom rear rubber motor guard (prevents scraping during full wheelies)
