Hagan Books and Media

The purpose of this page is to provide a bibliography of books and movies and any other media that would be pertinent to the research and understanding of the Hagan family. Note too that usually family histories are privately or self published and are of short runs. If you are at all interested in purchasing a recently published family history book, I would suggest buying them immediately.

7/99 History and Genealogies of the Hammond Families in America: with an account of the early history of the family in Normandy and Great Britain 1000-1902. By Frederick Stam Hammond (vol.1, New York, 1902), (vol. 2, New York, 1904)

The book includes information on the early families right down through our ancestor, Charles Howard Hammond.

7/99 William Gallop, Revolutionary Soldier by Louise G. Walker (Chicago, 1973)

This book is in 3 parts and covers the author’s research on descendants of William Gallop, the Emigrant John Gallop, and the elusive Richard Gallop. Our ancestor was William Gallop in Section 1. The book was privately printed and is now out of publication.

7/99 Swartwout Chronicles 1338-1899 by Arthur Weise (1899)

The book starts with our ancestor Rolef Swartwout and Wife Catryna and their immigration to the US from Holland and their descendants.

7/99 Movie miniseries "The Awakening Land" starring Elizabeth Montgomery.

Based on the trilogy of novels by Conrad Richter. This is a good historical movie of the way life was in Ohio In the early 1800’s. Very applicable to the life of Daniel Johnson/Anna North (grandparents of Aramintha Parker Hammond).
