This web site is dedicated to the preservation of the Hagan and Monnin Family histories. Many years of hard work have gone into researching both of our families. The goal of this site is to publish the results of this research so that all of our families can enjoy our rich heritage and history. Ancestors of the Month

Zetus & Harriet Swartout

Harriet lived her entire life in Lenawee County. Zetus was born in New York and at age 4 came to Michigan with his parents, 10 brothers and sisters and his Grandfather who fought in the American Revolution. Harriet was a schoolteacher and Zetus was her student. They married in 1858 in Lenawee County. They were farmers, except for a time when they ran a boarding house. Together they had 10 children, 5 of whom lived to adulthood. But by the time Zetus died in 1924 at age 92, he had outlived his wife and 9 of his children.
