WE have devised the following rules (based on the 2nd ed. Chaos Codex) to allow us to use Combi-Weapons in Chaos armies. They are only a temp file until the NEW Chaos Codex comes out Jan. '99. So till then feel free to try out these rules.
The rules for using combi-weapons in a Chaos army are the same as those presented in the Space Marine section of the army lists (see page 169 of the main 40k rule book).
Below I have listed the troop types that can use combi-weapons and the changes that apply to the points cost of the model.
If any of these options are used (especially the one regarding characters) in a game be sure to get your opponents permission first.
Use the follow stat bar and rules for representing Chaos Terminator squads.
| Unit | Pts./Model | WS | BS | S | T | W | I | A | Ld | Sv | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Terminator | 36 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 2 | 10 | 2+ |
Squad: A Chaos Terminator squad consists of 5-10 Chaos Terminators.
Weapons: Twin linked boltguns (treat as a storm bolter), and close combat weapon.
Options: Up to one Chaos Terminator may exchange his storm bolter for either an autocannon at +15 points or a heavy flamer at +10 points.
Any Chaos Terminator model may exchange his close combat weapon for either a power/chain fist at +6 points or a power weapon at +4 points.
Any Chaos Terminator model may exchange his storm bolter for a combi-weapon at the following point cost:
| Combi-Weapon | Cost |
|---|---|
| bolter-flamer | +8 pts |
| bolter-meltagun | +13 pts |
| bolter-plasmagun | +13 pts |
| bolter-grenade launcher | +8 pts |
| Special Rules |
|---|
| Deep Strike: In the right circumstances Chaos Terminators can teleport into battle, appearing almost anywhere on the battlefield. To represent this they may set up using the Deep Strike rules, but only if the mission does not allow troops to use the Deep Strike rules then the Terminators must set up normally with the rest of the army. |
Chaos Lords Retinue
Apply the following rules in addition to those in the book if any models are upgraded to Chaos Terminators. All normal rules apply except where noted below.
1). It will cost 21 pts to upgrade a model in a Chaos Lords Retinue to a Chaos Terminator (not 27 points as indicated).
2). The model upgraded to a Chaos Terminator comes equiped with close combat weapon and twin linked boltguns (treat as a storm bolter).
3). Models upgrades to Chaos Terminators have the following options:
-Up to one Chaos Terminator may exchange his storm bolter for either an autocannon at +15 points or a heavy flamer at +10 points (as indicated in the rule book).
-Any Chaos Terminator model may exchange his close combat weapon for either a Power/chain fist at +6 points or a power weapon at +4 points.
-Any Chaos Terminator model may exchange his storm bolter for a combi-weapon at the following point cost:

|---|---|
| bolter-flamer | +8 pts |

| bolter-plasmagun | +13 pts |
| bolter-grenade launcher | +8 pts |
Apply the following changes to the Wargear list as follows:
1). Terminator armor cost is 31 pts, not 55 as indicated in the book. This option includes a close combat weapon and twin linked boltguns (treat as a stormbolter) - ie, disregard the reference to the power fist.
2). Any character who takes Terminator armor also has the following additional options:
-Exchange Close combat weapon for either a Power/chain fist at 24 pts or a power weapon at +14 pts.
-Exchange stormbolter for a combi-weapon at the following point cost:
