Lyon

Fourviere continues to be one of my favorite spots in the city.

On this trip I got to see the basilica at night. It was lovely to see both the lights on the basilica and the lights of the city.

This angel sits on the rear of the basilica. Doesn't it look like a paper cut-out? I think it must have been designed by someone completely different than whomever did the rest of the ornamentation.

Here is a tunnel from the rose garden on the way up to the basilica. It smelled lovely and the roses were in full bloom.
This tree looks like an umbrella from the side but from underneath (here) the branches look all tangled up like roots. The tree stands on a 'landing' on the way up to the basilica.
