The Island of Mull

Mull was rather out of the way -- it's a small island and when we mentioned to people that we were going there they usually gave

us an odd look and asked why! It was definitely quiet and rather cold -- we stayed in sort of a grand tent. But the scenery was

pretty and after our time in Edinburgh we were glad for a little peace and quiet.

We'll begin with the castles of Mull. On the left is Torosay Castle which we reached on the tiniest train. We enjoyed tea and scones on the back porch depite a chilly day. On the right is a view across the water of Duart Castle which looked impressive but which we didn't have time to go properly visit.

The tiniest train! Don't worry, that man didn't push it all the way to the castle and there actually were train cars -- this was just the turning-around process that the train went through at the end of its run.
Just as we were thinking that we'd love a place to stop an email our friends while on Mull, we looked up and saw this sign. It's made more amusing by the fact that my great-grandma who grew up in Scotland was a MacGregor.
