Nimes

Nimes was a nice city -- reminiscent of Lyon in size, atmosphere and presence of Roman ruins.

It was very hot while we were there but we got out to walk around the park and the ruins nonetheless!

This is just a pretty canal and a pretty street.

This could be the world's smallest elevator! It was in our hotel and it was always a little bit claustrophobic to use.
Here is the Maison Carree -- a very well-preserved little Roman temple. It was just outside our hotel and looked extra nice when lit up at night, as in this picture.
This is the inside of the Roman arena which was large and also quite well-preserved. Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of the outside of it because it was so closely surrounded by buildings that there was no way to get the whole thing in a picture.
