An adolescent enchanted by dazzling sight; A sea of red, white and blue above distant field. Old Glory never waved to such delight; A legion of flags the green area thrilled. To many the Memorial Day was splendidly saluted, While to others the nation's glory was ignobly diluted; Cries of terror and sorrow from Catholics, Jews and Blacks; Long subject to the pangs and indignity of prejudicial attacks. For the originators of this presentation Were holding not a Bill of Rights Celebration; Arrogance, bigotry and hatred ruled their plan; For the flag display was created by the Klu Klux Klan. Yet in noble protestation At the evil celebration, Townsfolks lowering their flags half mast, Till the shameful display was past.
