Near the end of the summer of '99, Dave and Ku traveled to the Outer Banks on the coast of North Carolina to attend the Haynes Family Reunion (Dave's maternal grandmother's family). It was a large gathering (about 70-80 poeple), and they all had a great time. While they were there, they decided to take a little time to visit some famous sights in the area. This region is home to the Wright Brothers' historic flight at Kitty Hawk, the mysterious Lost Colony of Roanoke (birthplace of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World), and several cool old lighthouses, including the world famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (unfortunately undergoing renovation during Dave and Ku's visit). Dave's Mom was kind enough to accompany them on these interesting excursions:
