MARK
MCGOVERN'S
DR. JEKYLL AS MR. HYDE
1969 original Aurora "Glow
in the Dark" issue, 1/8 scale (styrene).

Don't ask me how I managed to
hang onto this one for thirty years, I just did. In rebuilding the model, I had
to replace the bottom of the test tube rack, the little tube that connects the two lab flasks on the table, the
stand for the flask above the Bunsen burner, and the burner itself. I also added
an interior for Hyde's mouth and gave him a more detailed set of ears (cast
quick-and-dirty, using 5-minute epoxy in modeling clay molds that I simply
pressed over the ears of a Frankenstein front head half). A bit of insulated
wire serves as the gas line for the burner. Just to busy the base a bit I wrote out some of Dr. Jekyll's
notes, shot them down to scale on a printer, and stuck them to the model with
thinned white glue.
