GARY COHOE'S ALIENS PAGE

Seems like Gary likes the critters and hardware from the Alien films a lot, so that part of his modeling output is showcased on this page.

ALIEN (1979)

ALIEN WITH EGG - Halcyon's Aliens figure converted to the alien from the first movie.

The egg (below left) was covered with silicon slime.  The Alien's transparent cranial dome was created from layers of casting plastic.

THE DERELICT - A resin Alien derelict on a custom base. The blue tones simulate the dim, blue light on LV-426 (the planet on which the crew discovered the Alien life form). You may see three small figures in the lower left foreground.

A closer view, showing  Dallas, Kane, and Lambert approach.

DROP SHIP: An unruly passenger being ejected in 1/144 scale.

This was to have been a simple model, but numerous corrections had to be made, especially in the thruster and nose areas. There's actually an interior behind the ejected ice crystals.

THE GUNNER - Another Halcyon vinyl kit. Dallas was lengthened and given the tri-pod assembly, Lambert was shortened and re-sculpted (female), and Kane's pose was completely re-done.

THE NOSTROMO -

Halcyon's vinyl Nostromo on a custom LV-426 base.

Vinyl kits need precautions to prevent warping, but they have amazing detail - and no seams.

ALIENS (1986)

THE FIGHT - Ripley and the queen on scratch-built interlocking bases. The beacon pulses and the hatch lights illuminate. Ripley's pose (and the loader's) was changed to a more fighting stance by moving one leg back and out, one arm up and extended, and tipping the head back.

The Halcyon kit's joints and pivot points were sharpened up. The left forks were moved to a middle position.

If you had been using a flame thrower while holding a small girl , barely escaped a nuclear explosion the size of Nebraska, and were fighting a malevolent 14' alien in an unwieldy machine you would be glossy too! (I had a judge tell me the shine was unrealistic).

Queen has metallic pearls dry brushed over black.

ALIEN 3 (1992)

A modified extreme pose showing the more lizard-like movement of the Aliens in this film. The clear skull dome was made in layers of casting plastic.

The base is a collection of stuff (bottle caps, drain pipe, wall switch, straw, auto AC part, bass guitar string, solder, etc. Note the dusty hands and feet, compared to the gloss on the body.

Double meaning to the wall stencil?
