You'll find them very useful to document photogate placement and the overall look of the ride. Turbo Storm Rippin Rocket Some additional resources are available. gates2speeds.m is loacated in a zip file. The raw data from the photogates must be converted to speeds. This is accomplished with a handy dandy Matlab script located in an M file called 'gates2speeds.m'. Instructions on the use of this script are provided as comments at the beginning of the M file. The instructions can also be read by typing 'help gates2speed' in the command window of Matlab. There are two avi movies for each roller coaster, one of the loop and one of the hill. They may provide additional insight when completing this activity. In fact, they are compatible with Videopoint if you choose to collect data using them.
