Alan's Personal Information

I live in McDaniels, Kentucky on Rough
River Lake. My age is changing more often than I update this website, so I'll give you milestones: I turned 35 in 2001,
40 in 2006, I'll be 45 in 2011, 50 in 2016, and you can do the math from there. I work for a small consulting firm in Chicago called Utilities International. I work with clients
implementing financial forecasting systems and providing financial solutions to utility
companies through training, programming, and business analysis. I worked for
EDS Utilities for 6 years as a Utility Consultant.
I grew up in the small town of Owensboro, KY, where my parents and sister live. I lived in Atlanta for about 7 years and am finally back home (about an hour from both Owensboro and Louisville) where I belong (I'm a country boy at heart). My sister Jeanie and her husband Bryan (my two best friends) have the three most adorable children on the planet. If you don't believe me, just take a look at Zachary Alan Cannon (pictured at age 7, 17 in 2007); Sarah Olivia Cannon (pictured at age 4, 14 in 2007); and Megan Allison Cannon (pictured with me at age 8 in 2006).
I went to college at Furman University in Greenville, SC. I graduated in 1989 with a BS in mathematics. After working for almost 3 years, I went back to school with a PhD in mathematics in mind. I loved the University of Illinois and Champaign-Urbana, and especially my church, New Covenant Fellowship. However, I soon realized that I didn't love math enough to complete a doctorate. I settled with a Master's degree and then returned to EDS in Atlanta, then recently moved back to Kentucky. In Atlanta, I attended Dunwoody Community Church, which was a real pleasure each week.
My hobbies include watching the Atlanta Braves, watching certain television shows, playing the piano, singing, hiking, snow and water skiing, sailing, listening to music, and gardening.
I have a friend, Melanie. She's not my girlfriend, but she was hurt that she wasn't on my page, so now she is. Edit: Melanie passed away in 2005 - she was a dear friend.
