God Is In Control - Part 2

We affirm that God is God. It Is He who is Sovereign. To say God is Sovereign is to say God is in perfect Control ALWAYS and in Every place. There is nothing or no one who can overthrow His Throne, It is He who raises up kingdoms and takes down dynasties ... He does according to His will in the heavens and on the earth. Indeed He is King and He is Lord....

He is "Lord."
"Lord" denotes the active service of His Power over the world and men, as the Creator and Ruler, the Giver of Life and death. Thus, 'Lord' is a term expressive of the ... Sovereign AUTHORITY of the Most High."

"If one must distinguish, God is the term of PURE EXALTATION, while the LORD carries with it the more expressly the IDEA of SOVEREIGN RULERSHIP in actual exercise, Evoking Obedient Service."

1. He is Lord over Creation- Nehemiah 9:6, Psalm 24:1

2. He is Lord over Temptation- 1 Corinthians 10:13, 2 Peter 2:9

3. He is Lord over your Present Situation -
-Genesis 45:8, Ephesians 3:1, 4:1, 6:19-20; Romans 8:28-29

4. He is Lord over Salvation- John 14:6, Revelation 7:10

5. He is Lord over your Final Destination -
- Revelation 20:11-15, Revelation 21:8, - Matthew 25:34, 41

HE IS IN CONTROL.
He has ALL the Authority and Power...any power a person ahs is because He has allowed him or her to and with that gift of power will come accountability for how it was used! ...He is Lord...He is in Charge. He not only has the Power to do as He pleases, when He pleases, with whom He pleases.
A. - Psalm 135:6 "Whatever the Lord pleases, He does, In Heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps..."
B. - Isaiah 46:10 - "My purpose will be established and I will accomplish ALL My good pleasure."


To be Sovereign - To be Ultimately in Control...to be God certain attributes must belong to Him and be exercised by Him if He is to be in Charge...
1. He must Be Omnipresent
2. He must be Omniscient
3. He must be Omnipotent
4. He must be Immutable

And God is all of these and more... lets look at each aspect of the attributes, that which is True about Him as mentioned above...

1. - GOD IS OMNIPRESENT;

"OMNI" - The First Three attributes are compound words using the Latin prefix,"omni" meaning 'ALL'...thus 'omnipresent means 'present everywhere at once."

God is present everywhere at once. You and I are not nor can we be, satan is not, though some would have you believe he to be... Only God is Omnipresent...You cannot board Him out, Legislate Him out, Hide from Him,
refuse Him entrance to either a nation or a classroom. God is Omni present. He is Everywhere at once "Beholding the good and the evil." There is nothing or no one that escapes his attention...No place where a Person can hide from
His Presence... Listen to these Scriptures.

NEITHER DISTANCE NOR DARKNESS HIDES FROM HIM.
A. - DISTANCE cannot Hide us from Him.
Psalm 139: 7 -"Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I Flee from Thy presence? If I ascend to Heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold Thou art there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Thy hand will lead me..."

B. - DARKNESS cannot Hide us from Him
Psalm 139:12 - "Even the darkness is not dark to Thee, and the night is as bright as the day, Darkness and Light are alike to Thee."


THE NEARNESS OF GOD;
A. -" For what great nation is there that has a God so NEAR to it as the Lord our God whenever we call on Him?" - Daniel 4:7
B. - " God is our Refuge and strength, a very PRESENT HELP in times of trouble."

What Comfort to the follower of the Lord Jesus Christ this brings
A. - " I will be WITH YOU Always"- Joshua 1:9
B.- "I will be WITH YOU until the end of the ages."-Matthew 28:-20
C.- "I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you."-Hebrews 13:5


The apostle Paul knew what it was like to be forsaken and abandoned he says in 2Timothy 4:16-17 "At my defense NO ONE supported me, but ALL DESERTED ME... But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me...".

To the follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have His Promise never to leave nor abandon us, but to always be with us no matter where we are; be it a school room, a factory floor, a hospital bed, a place of pain and suffering, or trials, indeed the Bible says "Nothing can separate us from the Love of God in Christ."- Romans 8:35-39


2. GOD IS OMNISCIENT;

"God is infinite in Knowledge. He knows Himself and all others Perfectly from ALL eternity, whether they be actual or merely possible, whether they be past, present or future. He knows things Immediately, simultaneously, exhaustively and truly."

God never grows in Knowledge, never deteriorates in Knowledge, Never knows in Part but Always the Whole, He knows... He never forgets or has trouble remembering. He never needs to ask questions to try and ascertain the truth He Knows Completely and without boundaries. Everything and everyone past, present or future is known thoroughly, completely, truthfully and perfectly by Him...He is Omniscient.

GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT YOU;
"O LORD, Thou has searched me and KNOWN me, Thou dost KNOW when I sit down and when I rise up, Thou dost UNDERSTAND my thought from afar. Thou dost Scrutinize my path and my lying down, And art Intimately acquainted with ALL my ways.

Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord Thou dost KNOW IT ALL... Such KNOWLEDGE is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain it." - Psalm 139:1-6

God Knew all about ACHAN;
Achan had stolen some silverware, from the enemy and hid it in his tent. God Revealed and exposed him to Joshua and revealed his sin... For God KNEW ALL ABOUT IT.

God Knows about your LYING;
Acts chapter five is a story about a couple who were killed because they "lied" to the Holy Spirit." God knew their lie and exposed it to those whom they had lied to.

God Knows your SECRETS;
Psalm 44:21- "For He KNOWS the secrets of the heart."

1 Corinthians 14:25 - "...the secrets of the heart are DISCLOSED."

Romans 2:16 - "...on that day when according to my Gospel, God WILL JUDGE the secrets of men, through Jesus Christ."


God Knows your MOTIVES-

Matt 10:30

God Knows about your struggles;
Rev 2:9 - "I KNOW your Tribulation and your poverty [but you are rich], and the blasphemy by those who say they are ...

God knows where you Live and the spiritual warfare you encounter;
Rev 2:13-" I KNOW where you dwell, where satan's throne is;

God Knows Your FAITHFULNESS to His Cause;
Rev 2:13 -"... you Hold fast my Name, and did not deny My faith...."


God knows about your birth and when you will die and all in between;
Psalm 139:15 - "My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in Secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thin eyes have SEEN my unformed substance; And in Thy book they were all written, The Days
that were ORDAINED FOR ME, When as yet there was not one of them."

God KNOWS ALL ABOUT YOU and me, and everyone and everything... Hagar once ran away to the wilderness thinking no one would find her... But guess who was There? The Lord looked her up! And dear friend He is there with you Now... Present and All Knowing,,,


Not only Can distance nor darkness separate or sever us from Him, but He is Near and He sees all perfectly and completely and truthfully... He SEES ATTITUDE, and He SEES ACTION, He KNOWS the thoughts of an individual, Motives are SEEN by Him.

Genesis 16:13 - "Thou art a God who SEES"
Hebrews 4:13 - " And there is no creature hidden form His SIGHT, but ALL things are Open and laid bare to the EYES of Him we have to do".

Ezekiel chapter 8 reveals those who were to be leading the people to worship God were themselves worshipping idols in their own hearts and God EXPOSES it because He sees completely.

God knows and Will judge Rightly and Accurately the motives and actions of people, he is Omniscient-All knowing. When people misunderstand you or put a motive to what you are doing, though it not be true, God Knows, for He sees your Heart... His Omniscience can bring Great Comfort to the heart of one who is coming to Know Him increasingly in a Personal and True Way.

Is there a situation you are Facing... Fear not God Sees... and God is with You... beholding the good and the evil." Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart..."


3. - GOD IS OMNIPOTENT;
God is ALL Powerful and able to do what He wills that is in harmony with Himself and His Perfection."

Did you know there are 4 things God cannot do because they are contrary to His Nature as Holy God?

1. - He cannot look on sin favorably
Habakkuk 1:13 - "Thine eyes are too pure to approve evil, And Thou canst not look on iniquity with Favor."
2. - He cannot Deny Himself
2 Timothy 2:13 - "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself."

3. - He cannot Lie - Titus 1:2 "... God who cannot lie."
Hebrews 6:18 "...it is impossible for God to lie."
4. - He cannot tempt or be tempted to sin.

God is ALL Powerful;
A. - He is called the "Almighty God"- Genesis 17:1
B. - He is Able to do ALL things He purposes- Job 42:2
C- With Him ALL things are possible- Matthew 19:26
D. - Nothing is too difficult for Him- Jeremiah 32:17
E. - He spoke the world into existence effortlessly- Genesis 1:1-31
F. - He upholds all things by the word of His Power- Hebrews 1:3

Why is He ALL Powerful? Because He rules! He is God- Revelation 19:6
"Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the ALMIGHTY reigns."

He is not only Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent but He is IMMUTABLE

4. - GOD IS IMMUTABLE;
HE never changes, He never grows wiser, He never grows weary- Isaiah 40:28...He never changes in Who He is, what he is Like... He ALONE is the only Unchangeable One.

Babies change as they develop, they grow wiser as they mature, they can add words and make sentences, they can learn to run, kick a ball, ride a bike...all the time changing... and indeed we are all changing from the crib to the grave...as we grow older, we grow physically weaker at times... we are constantly changing. Changing our views, changing our minds, changing our emotions...one day fine, one day exploding in sinful anger ... etc. All change leads either to God or away from God.... But God never changes. You can count on Him to be the same no matter how you feel. He does not change....

"GOD IS UNCHANGEABLE in His essence, attributes, consciousness of will. All change must be for the better or for the worse, but God...cannot change for the better since He is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT; neither can He change to the worse because He is absolutely Perfect... He can never be wiser, More Holy, more Just, more Merciful, more Truthful, nor less so. Nor do His plans and purposes change...neither improvement or deterioration is possible. Any change would make Him less than God, any change in His purposes or plans would make Him less wise, good and Holy."

The Bible Teaches;
1. - God doe not CHANGE -Malachi 3:6 - "For I the Lord do not change."
2. - His Character does not change- "But You remain the same and Your years will never end."- -Psalm 102:17
3. - His Power does not change - " Romans 4:21 "... and being fully assured that He who promised was also ABLE to PERFORM."
4. His Plans and Purposes do not change - "The counsel of the Lord stands forever the plans of His heart from generation to generation."- Ps 33:11
5. His Promises do not change - I Kings 8:56, 2 Corinthians 1:20
6. His Love and Mercy do not change- "But the Lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who revere Him."- Ps 103:17
7. His Justice does not change - "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do justly."- Genesis 18:25


God ALWAYS DOES what is Holy, Right, Just, Loving, and True... He never Changes!!

A FAULTY VIEW OF GOD LEADS TO BEING CONTROLLED BY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Once two men were walking on the beech, one was greatly troubled. His friend pointed out a rock in the ocean and said "Do you see that rock Bobbing up and down in the water?" One could see the rock "bobbing " up and down as the waves crashes up against it and over it... The man looking at it realized the rock was not moving but the waves all around it. So often in our circumstances we wonder about God "Where is He? Does He care? Does He know? I don't 'feel' His nearness... But it is not the Lord who changes but OUR PERSPECTIVE on circumstances we allow change us. God is always Present. DO not allow your feelings to dictate the Truth of Scripture. God is present, God sees, God Knows, God cares, GOD DOES NOT CHANGE!!!


WHAT IS OUR RESPONSE TO BE TO GOD?
In Light of His Omnipresence, His Omniscience, His Omnipotence, His Immutability...We can embrace Him as ...

5. -OUR SUFFICIENCY.
As our Sufficiency we can have...

A. -CONFIDENT LIVING
A. -"I can do ALL THINGS through CHRIST who Strengthens me."- Phil 4:13

B. - "His Divine power has granted us everything pertaining to life and Godliness through the knowledge of Him- 2 Peter 1:3

C. - He has given us "Precious and magnificent promises" to be used and appropriated- 2 Peter 1:4


2. Conduct worthy of Him
A. - 1 Peter 1:17 -" And if you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each man's work, CONDUCT YOURSELVES in REVERENCE during the time of your stay upon earth."


3. Constrained to WORSHIP Him

John 4:24-25 "For such people the Father seeks to be His Worshippers. God is Spirit… those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth".

The Truth about Him should lead us to Submission to Him and Worship of Him as God who is in Control, God who is Sovereign, For Who HE is; Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Immutable and our Sufficiency, for those of us who have turned to Him in submission and obedience.


APPLICATION;
When you pray to Him...Pray using The Truth about Him as Revealed in His Word, the Bible. Pray Back those truths from the verses you have so far read...for this when the heart is right is to ascribe worthship to Him and
indeed is part of worshipping Him in truth ...to which we are called and indeed the more we know Of Him... Constrained to do so.

As the Hymn writer wrote "O Worship the Lord in the beauty of Holiness, fall down before Him His Glory proclaim
with gold of obedience and incense of Lowliness, Kneel and Adore Him the Lord is His Name."


BECAUSE HE IS who He is;

1. - RELINQUISH Your Burdens to Him- He Cares for you- 1 Peter 5:7
2. - REST In His Love for you- John 15:9.
3. - REJOICE in Him Always- Philippians 3:1
4. - REACH out to others with the Truth concerning Him- Philippians 2:16
5. - REALIZE who God is and worship Him for Who He is...
